It's so easy to google and find pretty images of lanterns that you love, but not quite so easy to find them to buy....anyone seen any beautiful lanterns for sale lately?  Or any gorgeous images that I have missed?

  1. hey shelli! i'm currently renovating an old house and i too love the lantern above the island look. after many months of lusting over these lanterns from circa (http://www.circalighting.com/details.aspx?pid=874), i found a great knock-off from bellacor.com. they came in and i'm soo happy with them. also, your last image is from an acquaintance of mine. this picture is from her old home and she just rebuilt. her last home had lanterns from circa, but for her new home she went with the knock-offs from pottery barn and she is very pleased with them. good luck on your lantern search :)

  2. Sarah Richardson used 2 lanterns she found in an antique/resale shop on her new "Sarah's House 4". Of course they were inexpensive too! We are just finishing our kitchen remodel. Can't wait to see yours :).

  3. Try looking for outdoor lanterns. I think you'll find the best selection and prices with those without having to give up the look you want. Also, I'm not sure where you are but if you're by Atlanta Colonial Lighting in Suwanee has a HUGE selection of them.

  5. Ballards has several of them. We have outlets here in Atlanta where you can get steals on them. They're not overly huge, so they're perfect for over a large island.

  7. Circa lighting has ones in the last picture, although Pottery Barn carries a very similar yet smaller one for a fraction

I have a Ballards lantern, which I love the style: simple black, etc. I have the large one, which is very large. The small ones would work well over an island I think. My only complaint is that they don't have open bottoms, but rather closed, which cast a shadow.

A Steal for the look and could be great painted a color like the urban electric one featured above!

  9. So true. Tried to find some cute ones for a client and they were never close to the inspiration photos. I do like the Ballard one. Your kitchen will be so amazing.

  10. Love the lanterns...I bought my pendants for above my island from www.lightingdirect.com. I bought an industrial looking pendant, but I'm sure they sell some lantern lights as well. I was hoping you could help me find the bar stools from the last photo. I have been looking for new bar stools and love these. I read above from one of the comments from Becky Cowen that she knows whose kitchen that is. Could you help me find where the owner purchased the stools? Thanks so much!

    1. I believe she got them from Restoration Hardware. The owner has a blog that I read.
