My Brazilian Blowout And Learning To Love My Own Mug

Okay, so if you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that I NEVER post pictures of myself.  (Mostly because I feel like a dork if I do,
and also because of THIS I am sure)

Well, today I am down 6 lbs in 2 weeks on my
and I am going to stop living my life behind this blog.

I am also going to finally start doing some things to help me feel better about my post baby appearance
and I am going to share them!

I have never worried too much about my hair but when the weather starts to get warm and humid it can get kind of frizzy.....fun times, right?

So, I got a brazilian blowout.
(first self portrait on the blog.....uuuuuuugh.)
There was a local groupon for $99, so I went for it.
I'm SO happy I did!!  I also decided to get my spring highlights.  It's a little more Malibu Barbie for me than I do in the winter season, so I get excited about it!
Yes, I am kind of a loser.

This is my 2nd brazilian blow out ever, I got one right after I had K, but didn't keep up with it.  I should have.  It's SO worth the time, effort and money if you have ANY frizz quality to your hair.  Like lucky me.  Ha.
I can even let it air dry!  SCORE.

(this one is even worse, I'm cringing at my big ol mug staring me in the face)
I took this one so you can see how easy the hair falls right into place with a simple blow dry, no flat iron or curling iron.  I'm also not wearing any make up, sorry for that.  It's kinda how I roll.  I wear it when I have to, but I'm more into my skin care than putting on my make up.  I wish I were better about it.

Somebody wanted to join in on the action...

This little hot mess learns fast, doesn't she?
(okay, I could have at least put on some lip gloss, oh well, keepin it real for you guys....ugh)

Last time I bought the expensive sulfate free shampoo that you buy at the salon.  This time I tried this!
(my girlfriend told me she saw it at the grocery, so I went stalking for it)

I bought the hydrate and the reconstruct formulas because they were on sale for $4.99 each!  The jar is a hair masque and was also $4.99 so I thought I'd try it.  The shampoo and conditioner are GREAT and smell good too!  I was kinda shocked.  Good stuff!

Like me, she loves them so much she decided to sell them too!

  2. You look absolutely stunning! No need to hide your beautiful face! I'm so happy to see it on here! BTW...sure wish I would have known what a brazilian blowout was before I decided to cut off all of my hair (even though, I do enjoy the low maintenance of short hair!). And I've tried that Loreal shampoo and I loved it!

  6. I just went looking for that stuff...sick of spending the $$$ on Kerastase...and couldn't find it. Back to Walgreens I go, glad to know it is good stuff! I hate pictures of myself on my blog - ha! But love to see other bloggers :)

  8. Aww! You are beautiful! And, you don't have a double chin. :) So, right there you have me beat. ;) I have been working out sooo very much and haven't lost hardly a stitch. I miss the younger days when my hormones were balanced, and my metabolism worked and I could at least lose my double chin. At least that way you can fake it in a picture. ;) Keep up the good work!!

  9. You look great and what an accomplishment with the shakes! I feel the same way about pictures of myself. We are our harshest critics. I have naturally curly hair and I blow it dry straight in the winter. I've been using the Loreal products for two years and they work just as well as any salon product. Keep up the good work with your shakes and with getting more comfortable where you're at right now.

  12. Brazillian Blowouts are NOT SAFE and are currently being investigated for not disclosing that their products contain formaldehyde. You can read about it on the FDA's website. It's a known carcinogen that you are exposing yourself too, so you deserve to know the truth.

  13. You can also go to safecosmetics.com to read more about the dangers. Many salons have recently discontinued offering this service because of the serious health risks it poses to their clients and staff.

  19. Good for you, Shelli! Love the blowout. I also got one when I had my son- best decision ever. Got another one last summer, but I am in DESPERATE need of getting one again. Jealous! You look great- and even without makeup- gorge!

  20. No makeup!? I'm BEYOND JEALOUS, Shelli! At 24 I feel like I should have that obnoxiously dewy and perfect skin you see on magazines, buuuuut that's just not happenin'. If ever you want to trade faces, let me know! ;)

And even without all your talent and brains you're beautiful. Bravo for putting your mug up here!

  22. I have been reading your blog for a while now. You are a beautiful girl and seem to be a great mother and wife. I know that you will be so happy to see your end results on your "shake diet" challenge. I lost over thirty pounds on my 90 day challenge this time last year. I have not gained the weight back and I feel so much better drinking my shakes. Plus it has kept me off cholesterol medication. Keep it up and I know that you will do great! I LOVE your blog and I love seeing what you do to your home. Have a great weekend and enjoy your spring!!!

  23. Shelli, you are stunning! My dear...you do not need makeup. Your skin is gorgeous. I wish I looked like that without makeup. I did too much sun in my younger years. Your hair looks beautiful. I have tried those products and love them. Such a darling photo with you and little K! You two gorgeous ladies. Enjoy your weekend!

  24. I love the anonymous conspiricey theorist! Your hair looks great and I think there's a million other things we do that are worse than getting a blow out. It looks fabulous! Can we meet up this weekend to get some shake powder? Michael and I are ready to try it out.

  26. If I looked that good with out make up I would never wear a drop! Congrats on the weight loss.

  27. Shelli - you are sooo pretty! I'm actually quite jealous of your non-make-up skin - mine has never looked that good!! :)

  28. I have been reading for a while, but never commented. You must be my soul sister because I feel the same about photos of myself!! Congrats on the challenge!! That is so great.

Hair - I have curly hair and used really expensive shampoo and conditioners for years until I discovered the Loreal Sulfate Free products. They are great!! The Eversleek allows me to blow my hair straight with out a straightening iron. The one for moisture is great on curls. I hope they continue working for you.

  29. You look so beautiful, especially being makeup free!! I love your blog. I'm a mom of a 9 month old and really enjoy reading about K and getting your reviews on baby products.
The Milk And Honey spa here in Austin, TX also doesn't offer the Brazillian Blowout due to formaldehyde exposure...I wonder if theres a different product on the market that I could try because I have curly hair and hate straightening it.
