The Kashmir White Granite Is Installed!

After 5 weeks without running water and a working dishwasher in the kitchen, the countertops were finally installed last week!  YAY!  (washing dishes in the laundry room sink was getting OLD...)

*If you would like to see the progress of my kitchen remodel in its entirety (and for sources) click here

Here is the new farm sink, bridge faucet and honed Kashmir Granite! (try to ignore the ripped up old tile, the tile man is coming to install on the 17th!)

The honed finish on the granite is GORGEOUS and has a really great feel to it as well....we were lucky and were able to get very white and gray large slabs without much garnet in them so they really look like marble but without the upkeep so that is awesome!

Here is a good shot to show you how we ripped down the 2 bar top and how it really opens up the space and sure lightened it as well!  The kitchen seems so much bigger and brighter now... (can't wait for dry wall and tile backsplash)

Here is a shot of the island with the larger slab on top.  It is really nice because there is now an overhang on the back and the side for extra seating and hanging out in the kitchen, just what we wanted!   The cabinets still need to be glazed, and originally we thought the wine fridge would go where the dark original cabinet is located so it isn't painted, lol.  We later decided to place the wine fridge next to the real fridge, so our painter will fix this when he comes for the glaze.

Here is where the wine fridge ended up and it works out much better!

Here you can see the overhang on the back of the island and my new double countertop stool with knife pleated slipcover!  It is made of washable and durable ivory denim and the bench is super comfortable!  Great place to pull up and have a snack or a glass of wine.

Here is another wide shot of the lighter and brighter kitchen.  The black stool will be repainted, the tile will go up on the 17th, the cabinets will be touched up and glazed and then the hardware will go up.  After seeing how the polished chrome bridge faucet really dolled up the sink, I can't wait to see how the pulls and knobs from Restoration Hardware look!

Here is a glance back at my kitchen before the refacing...

you can see the 2 bar top we eliminated in this pic too

pretty dark and seemed smaller,
no one wanted to spend time in here

remodel in progress.....

We still have a ways to go, but the bright side is that we have a working sink and dishwasher, so the kitchen is now back to functional!  Stay tuned!!!

A VIsit To Santa!

Well, I was MIA last week because the kitchen renovation was in full swing (I'll share pics tomorrow of the progress!) but I hope to be back to blogging all this week, as I've missed you guys!

Yesterday, we went to the 'Breakfast With Santa' at the club.

We've been talking about Santa, and what we are going to say to him and how he isn't scary.  It was worth a shot I guess.

Remember this post?  Well, my baby is DEF growing up (sniff, sniff)

"Mom, where is Santa?"

Waiting her turn.....

She ran up and HUGGED Santa!
(not quite what we were expecting, so sweet!)

K was still very shy, but she did tell Santa that she would like a dollhouse!

Santa's Magic Key!

Santa's Magic Key

This idea is so AWESOME!  I love love love it and will be making a version of my own...

I thought you guys might love it too!

Such a sweet way to marry Santa and Jesus in your home!
You can see the details on how to create your own at

The poem reads:

Dear Santa,
This magic key works just for you, Please open the door and come on through. Thank you for coming to our house tonight. We are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Thank you Santa for the gifts you bring. Thank you Lord for everything.

Monogrammed Drapery For The Nursery

I ordered drapes (you can buy the valance here) for Baby M's nursery, and then decided to have the valance topper monogrammed.  I had it done at Sew What in Brentwood and they do an awesome job!

*To see baby M's nursery progress thus far, click here

I love the way it turned out and customized the space!
Since the valance part of the curtains was $29, I ordered an extra juuuust in case we did a room switcheroo later on down the line.....

I had these done in my friend Charity's nursery as well, and I'll take pics when hers are up in her home!  I'm supposed to pick hers up this week.....

Fall Party- Purple Play Bus!

Earlier this week I shared that K had a little fall party for her friends!  It was also a great way for some of K's Mothers Day Out moms to get to know each other better over a little coffee and doughnuts!  We had a great turnout and it was a super fun morning, with GORGEOUS weather.

If you missed the invitations, I shared them here.

I put together a breakfast snack buffet for the moms and the kiddos.  It was mostly doughnuts, blueberry muffins, scones, coffee cake bites and doughnut holes.

I bought the flowers at Whole Foods when I bought the scones and blueberry muffins.  In the kitchen I had a coffee and orange juice bar set up.

The kiddos played for an hour on the Purple Play Bus.  They had an absolute ball!

Rings, trampolines, gymnastic mats galore!

It even had a fun slide that went out the back of the bus.  Genius I tell ya!

Knife Pleated Bar Stool Slipcovers!

My real life friend Holly (who has a gorgeous home and 3 kiddos!) saw my post on skirted bar stools and sent me a picture of hers that she had made.  She had them made in a local workroom for $30 each!  Not too shabby!

I thought they were so beautiful and I might have mine made the same way with the knife pleats.  I thought you might like to see them too.

Aren't they a pretty way to dress up a $50 barstool from Home Depot?   I think they look AWESOME!  Great job Hol!

I bought this double stool and think I might have one made!

Kitchen Progress- The Carpenter Came!

This past weekend Steve from Ryder Brothers came out and put in our farm sink, small wine fridge and knocked down the bar top.

*As a reminder, this is how the kitchen looked when we started, and I decided I wanted to go lighter and brighter.

You can follow the entire kitchen remodel process so far by clicking here

I really love how it opens up the space!

Steve and his sons do a wonderful job, are so reasonably priced, and are just plain good people!  I feel so lucky to have had them on this project!

Next up, the kashmir white honed granite is to be installed, we think the week of November 23rd!

*You can reach Steve at Ryder Brothers if you need custom carpentry work:

Crib Bedding For The New Nursery!

Well, the crib is in place and I've ordered the bedding!

The mobile recently arrived from blabla kids and one of my favorite parts of the room...the light fixture from Serena and Lily....more progress pics to come soon I promise! (sailboat prints from HomeGoods of course!!)

Here is the crib bedding that I ordered.....
It is a gorgeous cream linen (no yellow in it, very clean and crisp) and I cannot WAIT until it arrives....

I bought the linen crib bedding from this little shop on etsy

Fall Party For The Kiddos! The Invites...

We decided to have a little fall party for K and her friends!
I went to my gift wrapping and stationary stationery closet and rounded up some goodies to make some spur of the moment invitations for her little friends!

We rented the Purple Play Bus for the kiddos and I had a little fall breakfast spread for the adults.  It was a great way to get to know some of K's friends from Mothers Day Out and their parents too!  We had the perfect weather and a great turnout....stay tuned for pics of the party!

My Little Red Riding Hood- Halloween 2012

Well, I am LATE to the game this week as our family all caught the sickie bug and we've been out of commission.  Yay for the fact that we seem to be on the mend....FINALLY!

Here is my sweet little red riding hood from Halloween!
K had a ball!
K's Mothers Day Out had a little Halloween parade!
The kiddos were too cute!

"There's MOMMA!!"  (Daddy was taking the pic)

I love her little cape!

and that night our street had its annual food fest.
Everyone brings home made goodies and its so fun!

Who knows what she is doing

Guess which house was K's favorite to trick or treat???

Why?  Because Mimi the clown answers the door!
That's why!!!

Sorry for the late post and I hope you and your little ghouls had a great time trick or treating too!!!
(I think K had more fun answering the door and handing out candy, ha!)

*K's costume came from this little shop

The Nursery Planning Has Begun!

Guess who started on the new nursery?

This nursery is going to have a vintage sweet feel.
VERY different from K's Nursery, though I loved it too!

I had this vintage nursery lamp from Nursery Plastics, rewired and fitted with a dimmer switch and a new shade.

You can find some really sweet vintage lamps here

I also bought this sweet vintage rattle for a little project I have planned for this sweet baby's nursery.

I have a lot of plans for this nursery, stay tuned!
