Oh, and let's not even bring up the red Chanel large tote that I decided I was sick of, and sold to a resale shop 3 years ago. Gulp. I miss that bag. Oh, and have NEVER seen another like it. It was a random return and I got it for 70% off. Ugh. I know, I know, super shallow, right? Don't judge. I just like pretty things and this post is really more about me getting rid of things too quickly sometimes.
It looked like this, only it was the large bucket tote :(
Um, like the time I needed more space in my house because I was preggo and so I threw out a deep drawer filled with 2 years of magazines. Good plan, right? Oh, what magazine was it you ask? Domino. Uh- huh. Worth like over $1000. No biggie. UGH.
Do you have dresses or items that you got rid of that you kinda wish you had kept? Humor me.
Ugh...we are in the process of weeding out our basement, and it is sooo hard! I know we need to get rid of things, but then that voice creeps in...you might regret that! It was nice that our girls were here yesterday to look through their OWN things and make decisions. They had a few good laughs, a walk down memory lane, and in the end...were able to let go of some things! (think Plaster Palace-paint your own pottery-we had a ton). Clothes have been easier. If they don't fit, they don't fit! LOL
ReplyDeleteoh mygosh! That dress is ADORABLE!! My sister is a personal shopper for JCrew so I alway slip her some money to buy me something from there! They have the cutest clothes! Maybe you could find that dress again on ebay? you never know
ReplyDeleteI am the opposite. I hold on. and on. and on.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you! I had a Chloe Paddington Large Tote that I thought I was sick of a couple years back and ended up selling it on ebay. I think about that bag at least once a day lol. I also kick myself for the Marc Jacobs Stella bag I sold years ago, miss that one too! Funny thing is, both times the hubby said to me "If you sell them you're going to regret it and wish you didn't". Dang, I hate when he's right!! lol
ReplyDeleteThat dress from JCrew is super cute! I haven't seen anything similar before! :)

I am a chronic purger too...and constantly picking up everyone's things...even while they're in the middle of using them! I've gone to get something out of my closet, only to remember I tossed it. Mostly I'm guilty of bringing home things similar to what I already own...but 'forgot' about. Oops.
ReplyDeleteShel, you need to institute a personal rule when cleaning out your closets: Any Chanel item - no matter how sick you are of it, no matter how long it has been since you've worn it, no matter whether it's having its moment now or ten years ago - stays. Period. Chanel can be passed down to K!!
ReplyDeleteNot to rub it in or anything! ;)
ReplyDeleteI do that all the time with shoes. I get tired of them, sell them, and then wish I had kept them.
ReplyDeleteI've been this way since I was little!! I get a rush dropping off bags at the thrift store! It only hurts when I see my old things look super cute on some one else!!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes!!!!!! I'm a true thrift shopper and about six years ago while thrifting
ReplyDeleteI found three beautiful suits two St. John's and one Chanel. Well I w short on cash and decided to sell the suits on EBay. Well that black Chanel suit was beautiful. It sold quickly, but I should have kept that suit I'm still crying.
Wow, you have me thinking. I was about to get rid of a black Chanel suit that I never wear. I was thinking i would "trade it in" on some new stuff for my house. Guess I should keep it.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, you are really funny. Wish you lived next door!

Yes! But, I LOVE to purge. It makes me feel more organized. And, when there is less clutter and I feel more organized, I'm more creative and productive. I get rid of anything I haven't used in while (by a while, I mean 6+ months). Sometimes it's much too hasty.
ReplyDeleteI throw everything away!!! It always comes back to bite me. Every time!
ReplyDeleteCute blog!
Oh, I'm the opposite! Until recently I still had the very first suit I bought before graduating college (which wasn't exactly 5 years ago)!
ReplyDeleteSo so guilty of this. I am like Cassie and pick things up even when the kids are using them! Ha. I purge constantly. Nothing is worse than my mom donating two Louis Vuitton purses to a local thrift store . . only to have the styles now appearing in the store. Why, mom, why!?
ReplyDeleteI recently gave a pink Prada bag to Goodwill. I know, I can't talk about it.
ReplyDeleteI have thrown clothes away straight out of the dryer...what?? Rash decisions when I get in a purging zone.
Great post! I am the same way and sometimes have "throw away remorse" about it! I also hate clutter, but maybe I should make a pro/con list first. My new rule is that if I forgot I had it and haven't seen it in a couple years- it's history! It's worked so far! :)
ReplyDeleteI am the exact same way. It's a disorder opposite of hoarding. I just sold a really great, heavy, vintage buffet in a garage sale. Why did I do that? I want it back -now!
ReplyDeleteI'm the exact same way. It's rare that I actually do ever think of an item that i threw out again, but when I do I know it was a mistake.
ReplyDeleteHi Shelli, I have nominated you for the "Versatile Blogger" Award - please pop over to my blog for the info! Love your blog!

I totally know the feeling! That sick feeling in your gut! I'm too hasty in throwing things out sometimes. And no, you are not shallow at all for posting about this stuff! I'm right there with ya!
ReplyDeleteWait - if I have a full set of Domino it's worth $1,000? Who will pay me this? Come and get 'em!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I hate having regrets!!! But it does feel so good to get rid of things, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteoh, I KNOW--I threw out my Domino mags when we sold our house two years ago. Dumbest thing I ever did.
