Breakfast Room Switch Around

I've been playing in the kitchen...

Should I stain the legs on the settee?
Should I keep this rug here?  I have some seagrass rugs too that I could try.

Remember the settee from this room?
Should I try it at the breakfast table instead of the chevron settee?

I just threw this breakfast nook together because I 'needed' to change it up.  We haven't been eating at this table and I thought if I moved some stuff around that we might.  I had too many chairs at the table and it felt crowded.
TGIF!!!

  1. I have always loved the look of mixed seating, but around our kitchen table area there just isn't enough room. I think the settee legs would look good stained darker in that space.

Question though, where did you purchase your drapery rods? I have a bay window in my office and have always had a hard time finding rods that work.

  3. Looks great! Hmmm...I think I would like to see the seagrass rug for comparison :) Also, I like the legs on the settee as they are-doesn't have to match!

  4. Love this! The settee looks great however I would change the leg color. It definitely doesn't need to match the table either. I would love to see what a sea grass rug would look like in here.

  5. Love the settee and I like that it doesn't match perfectly! Where is it from?? Good job!

  6. My vote is yes to staining the legs on the setee, but I'm matchy matchy like that. It looks great though! I love that the table is coming out from the wall instead of backed up on it. It feels spacious.

  7. No to staining the legs, yes to switching the rugs and then see how you like the chevron...I think those small changes will make the chevron the star!

  8. just a suggestion: but what about moving the table & chairs 90 degrees- move the settee so the back is up against the window- it will make a pretty silhouette against the window. does that make sense? LOL I cant explain things well this morn. need more coffee!!

  9. I'd paint the legs :)

Where did you get your seat covers for the chairs?

  10. I like the chevron settee because it has no arms and it makes it easy to slide in and out without having to move the seat. I would love to see the sea grass rug... it would make the settee be the standout! I am loving it!

  11. I think if you keep the chevron settee then you should try the seagrass rug! But if you keep the rug, I would consider switching out the settee in your room! :)

  12. First of, I love your style. You have impeccable taste! The only thing I would change would be to stain the legs on the settee that you currently have at the table. The chevron pattern is so much fun, I love it.

  13. I don't have a settee... and I'm loving your settees... maybe I NEED a settee... hmm...

I like your current rug, but the seagrass rug would look great with the chevron!

  14. Try the seagrass rug...and yes, paint the legs to uniform the look.

  15. Cute! I agree with everyone else, keep the sette, but lose the rug.

Where are your dining chairs from? I love the backs of them!

  16. I say loose the rug and go with a sea grass instead! Aren't you always playing in a room? Last week it was your bedroom and living room before that. You sound like me! I'm playing in the kitchen today making new curtains.

  17. I really like the chevron settee at this table and I think it will function better than the other settee because of it being armless. I think you should go with a solid seagrass rug & I'm undecided about the legs.....they may look really good stained. Overall I think this is a very stylish room and I love the drum shade accent mixed with that chevron settee.

  18. Don't stain the legs! The lighter tone looks so good with your fabric. Plus, it all looks much more "gathered," and not "a set." Larger rug for sure -- the one you have looks too small, which makes the space look cramped. Keep the chevron settee at the table, as the other one would be harder to get in and out of because of the side arms. Looks great!

  19. Beautiful start! I vote try the seagrass. I also think that the chairs make the room look a little lopsided...dark table, dark chairs, but all light/wight on the settee weights the room all to one side...personally I like a lighter look so instead of staining the settee legs dark I'd paint the chairs a different color to balance things out :)

  20. Definitely stain the legs to the chevron settee..and keep it in the kitchen. No to the stripe rug, YES to the seagrass rug. I recently put a sisal rug in my dining room and it is amazing. Good luck!!

  21. Have you ever considered lowering your chandelier? Also consider kids dropping food at mealtimes- therefore I would not do the white sofa. Seagrass definitely but your colors are beautiful!

  22. Stain the legs and keep the rug. The rug is going to pop once the legs are stained!
    Fun details!
