Hi there! I'm Tiffany of Savor Home. I'm a huge fan of Shelli's blog and was SO excited when she asked me to participate in her 3 Secrets of Design series! I'm especially thrilled since I'm totally not a professional designer. I'm an accountant! Yikes! So my secrets may not actually be real "secrets," but I love interior design and have incorporated a few things I've learned from blogs and mags into my own home.
I love neutrals, so you won't need sunglasses when you enter my home! Neutrals are comfy and cozy to me, but lots of people think that neutrals are boring. I beg to differ. I think neutrals can be so much fun if you find subtle ways to spice it up! Here are 3 ways I added a little life to my living room:
1. Neutral tops = Spicy Bottoms
1. Neutral tops = Spicy Bottoms
The centerpiece of my living room is this custom and insanely comfy couch (I'll have it FOREVER). I purposely picked a neutral fabric so that I could always have the option to change things up. To make things a little more fun, I purchased this rug...
The couch and the chair are neutral, so I thought this rug would spice things up a bit. I love it because it's different (not the typical chevron or strips) and the fact that it adds a modern element to the space. I incorporated the colors in the rug into the rest of the room, so it also served as a "color map" for me as I decorated the space. It sort of pulls everything together.
2. Use Fun Lighting!

I'm a lamp hoarder. There I said it. Am I the only one? Anyway, I chose this lamp out of my pile because it goes perfectly with the rug and is a bit of a conversation piece. Its usually one of the first things that people ask me about.
I love the lamp, but I only bought one. I think using different lighting makes neutral spaces more interesting. So I paired the jazzy lamp with a $35 pharmacy lamp. I think they make a great couple...
3. Texturize!
*Sorry for the cords there... I have no plugs in the floor, and well- I'm just keepin' it real! *
A mixture of different textures adds lots of warmth and depth to a space. I aimed to create that by using leather, wicker, dark woods and chenille and canvas fabrics. Oh and how could I forget the animal prints! I love those TJMaxx pillows. If those don't add some spice to your life, then I don't know what will...
So see! Neutrals don't have to be boring! They aren't everyones cup of tea, but having a cup of tea in this room is so relaxing to me. That is all a girl could ask for!
