So I can get 2 for $654. Yikes. I might do it though.
But....then I found this. Randomly.
I can buy 2 for $199 here. Problem?
They don't list the dimensions online. Annoying. So I guess I'm gonna call. If they are the same, I could buy the bones from here and then the nicer skirts from Wisteria. If that would work I could buy 2 for $360.
Guess I better get on the phone.

*Update- I did get the dimensions over the phone and I found someone to custom make the skirts! Stay tuned!

ReplyDeleteI believe Bryn Alexander posted a tutorial on how she made her skirted bed tables. Of course that doesnt help you if you dont want to DIY but maybe you can convince a crafty friend.
ReplyDeleteI know Bryn from Bryn Alexandra used smaller expedit cases from Ikea and made the skirt (I'm sure you could hire someone to make that), added a glass top and they seem to work perfectly as nightstands.
ReplyDeleteOh girl, I feel ya! I'm not a DIYer either!!! I can figure some stuff out or I "pretend" to do stuff. But, most of the time I end up ordering or Paying someone else to do the dirty work. :$

I don't mind certain diy projects, but when it comes to upholstery or sewing skills beyond what I know I always find someone more skilled than I to do the work. 1st, you can find a local upholsterer...take a pic with you, they will tell you exactly how much fabric is needed and make it for you waaaay less then Wisteria wanted that obscene amount of money! Or, even some alterations places make smaller items like that.

ReplyDeleteYep, Elizabeth @ The Mustard Ceiling just previewed one yesterday that she made - and it looks just like your first inspiration photo. I try to do some stuff on my own, but I'm with you, there are just some things I can't do myself.
ReplyDeleteBrynn used two of the Expedit four cube shelves from IKEA and sewed two skirts to fit. I'm sure there's a seamstress out there who could sew them for you, and you'd get to pick the fabric!!

hahah DIFM, i love your honestly and I'm the same way. I want to be a DIYer, but have yet to try. I plan on tackling some projects on my to do list, but until then, DIFM will have to work. Glad I'm not the only one!

I think it is time you tried a DIY!! Haha! I am going to be making a skirt just like this for my entry... had planned on this for like EVER, but all great minds think alike! Anyhow... good luck with finding something that will work... and do NOT spend that much money for fabric! Seriously!!

(I'm her "good friend") She's excellent, been in the business for 25 years and has done so many fantastic projects. I can forward your blog to her and you can take it from there.
